 ilerimos Monastery - Ixia
An amazing location, hundreds of meters high
in the mountains of Filerimos, with the most
spectacular views sits this wonderful historical
monastery which dates back to early 14th
century. The church which stands within the
grounds of the monastery gives the impression
of a medieval castle with it's original round
domes and magnificent stone work
Surrounded by rich forestry and a serene
atmosphere makes this a wonderful spot
to exchange your wedding vows.
All Wedding ceremonies are conducted at the
cross which is located approximately 5 minutes
walk outside the grounds of the monastery,
however if you wish you can enter the monastery
grounds for photographs after your ceremony.

The impressive Rhodes Town Hall was built in
1937 during the Italian period by Armando
Pernabiti and is situated on Mandraki Harbour
sitting proudly amongst other notable
government and official buildings. |

Catholic Church - Rhodes Town
Our Lady of Victory church, affectionately
known locally as "Santa Maria" has been
effected over the years by events involving
the many nationalities who have inhabited
Rhodes. Originally within the walls of the
Old City, the Knights themselves destroyed
the church during the Grand Siege of 1522
as it was deemed to interfere with defence
of the city.
The Francisca Order who have had a presence
on Rhodes since the 13th Century administers
the church. This order returned 4 times a year,
over a period of 200 years to administer the
Sacraments to the prisoners on the Turkish
galleys, and in 1719 they received permission
from the Ottoman administration in
Constantinople to have 2 friars permanently on
the island.
Documented to have arrived on 31st
July 1720 they were placed under the protection
of the French consul. They subsequently laid |

the cornerstone of the church, which stands on its present site on 18th August 1742.
